I need to find a pattern for a kick-ass baby blanket. I always make baby blankets for friends and family, and my own baby is due in just 7 weeks, and I haven't started a thing yet! There's a yarn sale at Michael's starting today until Saturday, so I need to get on it!
I'm a pretty advanced crocheter, so complexity is not an issue. Simple to work up is also fine, one of my favorites that I've done was a simple mile-a-minute, but the pattern and color combination worked up really nicely, and it was gorgeous. I'd repeat it, but I want my baby to have something original, not a clone of her cousin's blanket.
I get really bored with repetitive patterns. If it's one or two rows repeated over and over again, I lose patience. 4 or more repeating rows or something that works up in multiple pieces is preferable.
Our "theme" is Lion King/jungle animals. I'd like to use 3-4 colors.
I prefer working in worsted weight. I'll likely end up using Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, it's my favorite acrylic that is carried at the big name retailers. I don't have access to a specialty yarn shop, and don't have time to order online at this point.
And lastly, free online patterns are the best.
I think I'm probably being super picky, I just can't find a pattern that seems "good enough", lol.

What about an animal print blanket? I'd love one for myself.

I did find a cute pattern for a zebra print blanket. I'm not 100% thrilled with it, though. We both like zebra print, so it's definitely in the running, but I just don't feel like it's "The One". I'm completely insane, if you haven't noticed.
