Why is it so cold in the middle of your country, when it's so hot on the east coast? I heard other people complaining about the cold too. Is there a mountain range or something in between?

And 70F isn't freezing. No hypothermia to be had from that. Stay warm!

Yes, we are in the high desert, surrounded by mountains and it is monsoon season. The US is so large that weather can run to opposing extremes commonly.

Michigan is usually 80's. We are in the 90's, but in a few days will be down to 70's. But this is normal for Michigan to have wild temp and weather swings. Mother Nature is very bi- polar up here. Of course, I am about a mile inland from the shore of Lake Michigan, so we usually stay about 5-10 degrees cooler than inland, with nice cool breeze, and today is one of those days that I am very thankful to be "cooler by the lake"
