I've been fascinated with making my own bread lately and so I thought I'd share some of my recipes! I'm always looking for new recipes so please feel free to share some of yours!
Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread
1 cup water 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1/4 cup honey (1/2 if you like it sweeter) 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup rolled oats 2 1/3 cups bread flour 1 teaspoon active yeast 1 tablespoon brown sugar
* Proof 1 packet of regular yeast with the water and the honey for about 8 minutes.
* Add the remaining ingredients all at once and knead in the stand mixer with the bread hook for another 8-10 minutes, on a medium/low setting.
* Oil bowl and the dough, cover it and let it rise for an hour in a warm oven.
* Punch it down, plop in a loaf pan and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
* Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
Enjoy!

This is my recipe for your standard white bread.
6-7 c flour (amount needed will vary) 3 T sugar 2 T shortening 1 T salt 2 packets / 4 1/2 tsp active yeast 2 1/4 c warm water
Mix 4 1/2 cups of flour with other dry ingredients (including yeast). Add water, then knead in enough flour that it's not really sticky. Oil/butter bowl and dough, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled. Punch down, cut in half and stick in two greased bread pans. Let rise for another 15-20 minutes then bake at 425 for 25-30 minutes.
I'll be getting my mother's wonderful 7 grain bread soon, so I'll post that too.
