I'm trying to be. I'm doing CampNaNo this month (and slacking, big time!) - and I've done NaNoWriMo in November the past two years. I have yet to write anything that I'm happy enough with to publish.

Well I write regularly. As well as my blogs I have a few projects I am working on. I'd like to be a published novelist one day but for the moment it's just a bit of a dream and a hobby.

Kalika, I'm struggling with campnano as well. Funny because I excel in November. Cassie, dreams are good. I'm not letting go of mine anytime soon.

I always want to write MORE. Finding the time is just... difficult. I'm exhausted by the end of the day, and it's just... frustrating.
How do you find/make time to write?

When I have a rare few days off I can happily write all day, and sometimes do. Mostly however I just fit it in when I can. I try to make sure I write two blog posts per week and something else. That's about as disciplined as I can be at the moment. Your blog looks good! I just skimmed a few posts.

I want to change that, sooner rather than later! What is the "something else" that you write? Articles, short stories, novels....?

Well I am working on a couple of fantasy/occult based novels and I occasionally write short stories. Nothing anywhere near published yet though!

Hell, I have four kids, it's crazy. But, back in November 2011, I decided part way through NaNoWriMo that I missed spending time writing daily, so I made it part of my routine. Once I get the kids into bed of an evening, I'd write for a little while. Now, it's become a habit and I try to get 500 words done a day.

I can't. I can't get projects finished, whether they're short stories or articles or what have you. I can't even get properly started. And it frustrates me so badly that I said, "Fine, that's obviously not what I'm supposed to be doing." So I edit, and love it.

I can't get enough distance.

I write a lot. Have written a book on card manipulation. Have written a knowledge base on software development on my website. Am quite active on social media. Do write novels. Sci-fi and fantasy, mostly. Some erotica and horror.

Cassie, Have you ever finished a WIP? I always want to write MORE. Finding the time is just... difficult. I'm exhausted by the end of the day, and it's just... frustrating. How do you find/make time to write? It is difficult. Maybe this is what I need to do. By the time I get to that point in the day, I'm usually just ready to sit down and veg... but if I'm going to be serious about all this, it needs to be a priority. Maybe if I tell myself that enough times it will finally stick! I can't. I can't get projects finished, whether they're short stories or articles or what have you. I can't even get properly started. And it frustrates me so badly that I said, "Fine, that's obviously not what I'm supposed to be doing." So I edit, and love it. How do you get in to editing as a profession, short of having an English (or whatever language) degree? I've looked, as I've been interested in doing some freelancing, but haven't been able to find much legitimate work. I write a lot. Have written a book on card manipulation. Have written a knowledge base on software development on my website. Am quite active on social media. Do write novels. Sci-fi and fantasy, mostly. Some erotica and horror. I've thought about trying to write erotica....because the well-written stuff is a lot of fun to read! But then I giggle and blush and can't ever quite get through thinking things out...So kind of figure that's not my genre. I'm guessing you don't have that problem.

I'm guessing you don't have that problem. I have finished a children's book (a collection of short stories linked together) and I try sending that off to publishers and agents from time to time. No success yet... I thought I had finished a sci-fi novel but then when I started editing it in detail I realised it needed to be completely re-written! I have written a few erotic short stories. They are fun but I blush whenever I read them back and I'm always shocked by how dirty my mind is!

You would have to ask somebody who does it as a profession I'm an administrative assistant [read: secretary] at a small business, the editing is my hobby. The author I work with has published three pieces now, so I guess it's semi-professional. I got into it by beta reading fan fiction. One of the writers I'd been reading for decided to try to publish her original stuff, and rather than try to find a new editor, she went with someone she knew.

I'm a writer Mostly Poetry and explaining things of occult nature. I don't write novels or anything like that but I do have plenty of fandom ideas. I suppose I could write a novel but I think my attention to detail would hurt me I'm going to at some point write more about the Transformers and their relgion- yes they have a religion.
I'll post some of my poetry in a bit. finding time isn't hard, finding the right atmosphere is hard. The atmosphere has to be conducive to writing.

I wrote my autobiography, published in ebook form, even sold a few of them.

I am a writer, I have had some poetry work published in two Canadian anthologies and many other publications. I have also written for several magazines and newspapers. As for Camp Nano did it in April, seriously lagging this month. I am also getting my poetry book and a novel published later this year or at least that is the plan.

My novels luckily haven't been published. If I reread them now I cringe at my own bad writing. I've had some poetry and some of my instruction manuals published. Small stuff, niche magazines. Proud of it, anyway. As far as erotica and blushing goes, I liken it to horror and getting scared: it if doesn't affect you, you're doing it wrong.

Sci-fi and fantasy, mostly. Some erotica and horror. Erotica huh? Did not pick you for the type, strangely enough. Kalika, yeah, unfortunately if you want to get published or do something with it, you have to have some sort of a schedule. At least that's what I've found. I couldn't go back to writing just in the month of November. As for editing. I know there are several indie editors. I'm not sure they all have a uni degree or anything. I'm actually looking into a freelance editing course as a way to make money on the sidelines. As for erotica, well, I was the same. The way I overcame it was by actually reading erotica, and a lot of it. You stop blushing after a while and I managed to to figure out a formula of how to write the sex scenes that come up in my novels quite well. That said if you don't blush while you are writing it then you are writing it wrong.

Congrats. I love anthologies. I have had six stories published that way.

I was re-reading something the other day that I started when I was about... 15. It made me wince, but it also made me laugh. It has been a long time dream to finish and publish a book.

I try to stay away from stuff I wrote when I was fifteen. Or rather the stuff I wrote when I was fifteen that survived. I have a unfinished novel from when I was 18 that I still love to this day, even if the writing is bad. I love looking over stuff like that and thinking I named a character WHAT? Seriously, I had an interesting taste in names back then.

I had a few poems published in one of those giant books at that same age...and I can read them even now and think they are OK. Not great, but OK. What names?

What names? *opens up random file* For girls: Aspen Charity Mercy Reagan India Michaela Leigh - my obsession Jamie Mayfaire Boys: Julien - my obsession Jordan Cory Luke Christopher Zachary And this was all contemporary fiction type stuff. Obviously the boys fared better.

For me it was Lina and Lira.
Boys... hmm. I didn't have a lot of boys in my writing. I may have to go back and look at it again, because for the life of me... I can't remember what I used.
