omm - A lot of things, none really all that much more important than this: I like painting, it is too hot. I like water, with ice.

So last night I had a really weird dream. Husband and I were at Baskin Robbins and I was eating all of his ice cream (I couldn't order my own because of my gestational diabetes, lol). A group of seniors came in, and I recognized my grandma. The one that passed away 13 years ago. She seemed kind of embarrassed to see me, but after not seeing her for 13 years, I had to talk to her. Turns out she had faked her death and was living it up in a retirement community, taking all the fun senior trips she used to do, cruises, that sort of thing. I introduced her to my husband, and made her give me her phone number, which she did, and it was mostly letters. And then she left, and I texted my sister.
It's not uncommon for me to have dreams about people that I know are deceased. I still dream about my dad (those are never good, though- even in my dreams I know he's supposed to be dead, and it's just creepy that he's not) and my cat Radar (again, I know he's supposed to be dead, so I pick him up and hold him for as long as I can because I know if I put him down he'll go away again). But for some reason, this one shook me up a bit and I can't help but wonder if it means something.

Work is on my mind. I'm applying for funding to keep our program going and it's tedious.

Pondering what to dress up as for Halloween now that I'll be with the niece and nephew for trick-or-treating. Trying to get brother go as an old geezer (have a patchwork sweater, he has some velcro shoes, SIL has a walker from when she broke her ankle, need to ask mom for her old people wool camping hat..)
Kind of tempted to just do the goth thing, since there's little to no effort and I'll be in the middle of moving. (My stuff gets dropped off at my new place in Calgary on Nov 1.) And it's not like I don't have a lot of gothy stuff as it is. hmmmmmm

I'm trying to plan my Halloween costume too, I've got to do the candy thing for the local kiddos.

Enjoying grilled chicken for breakfast. Thank you Kaylara for pressing me into buying this great air fryer! It's a hot air oven, basically, which works like a grill. Also on my mind: my laundry dryer has a malfunctioning reservoir sensor. It thinks the reservoir is full when it most certainly isn't. I've been telling it to dry the same clothes for 2 days in a row. Aggravating. If it doesn't start functioning normally soon, I'll have to rewash these clothes. Bah.

Moving house is a great moment to reduce one's stuff. We've been at it for the better part of a year. Good luck, Flaire!
On my mind: black Pete. The Dutch are protesting against the U.N. who has advised us to abolish Sinterklaas, due to hidden and blatant racism. I agree with the U.N., but a lot of my fellow Dutchies disagree and feel attacked. It's high time for me to leave. Come on, USCIS, approve my petition!

Unfortunately I've only a short period of time to do so - 3 weeks in total. Right now, it involves throwing a lot of stuff away. There'll be some clothes & books going to second hand stores. I'm bringing more with me than I think I'll have space for, so I'm hoping my brother & SIL don't mind me storing some stuff at their place temporarily. Most of it will be scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies that my Mom will likely take back with her when she stops by their place in the spring on the way across Canada for my parents' monthly trek. Alternatively, SIL and I want to start making cards again, so having stuff at her place will be easier than me carting stuff over there every time I go visit (now that I'll only be a mere 2.5 hours away.) Needless to say.. OMM: I can't wait to get out of Vancouver. And I'll be happy to never set foot in this part of BC ever again.

Someone needs to turn the heat back on. I like living in FL because it's always warm. These short "winters" will be the death of me. Now I need a light jacket.

Sent the husband out for last minute costumes. Everything is so picked through at this point... At least we have a costume for the baby already, although I'm bummed that we only have one. I wanted to have her in different costumes throughout the day. Oh well, she'll be cute. She's going as Minnie Mouse, I'm going as a sexy witch (I actually lost 30 pounds while pregnant! Woot!) and the husband is piecing some random stuff together somehow. We're going to trick or treat around the neighborhood for a bit, but mostly just stay home and watch scary and not-so-scary Halloween movies, eat way too much candy, and have a good time. Wish we could do more, but with a 2-week old, planning is hard.

Well Halloween is usually my favourite day of the year but this year it officially sucks. Oh well... Imma go be depressed now and binge on Halloween candy until kids start showing up.

I really need to stop taking in sick animals. /sigh It's very expensive to rehab them when they're sick with so many things.

I've put myself on Facebook hiatus after being teased mercilessly by my fella about being addicted... well... I kind of am. And I'm sick of it. So no Facebook for a while. Not sure when I'll go back, I'm aiming for one week to start with though.

omm: Everything comes and goes in waves. Which makes it easier to deal with svelter and harder times. For now? Things are looking up. And being a semi-local celeb at the pub is agreeing with me. (Thankfully due to art, and not anything more embarrassing) Kind of hoping to catch more of the local "I own half the area" mans eye when it comes to my art. You can afford a yacht and to keep a pub open just for fun, you can afford some of my art, mate.
